I get bored really easy. I'm no stranger to fitness regimes; I've done Bikram Yoga, spin, step aerobics, regular aerobics, strength training classes, treadmills, eliptical trainers, and running groups. I couldn't seem to stick to anything. But I've been at TTCF for 8 months now and I train 3-4 times a week. Each class is different and challenging.
I also like that it's okay to yell really loud at the gym. That's one of the best parts. I found out I have a pretty mean deadlift and am slowly, but surely, working my way up to an unassisted pull-up. I've also lost a couple inches off my waist/legs/etc., my skin is radiant, my energy has increased, I'm focused at work, and I can sleep soundly through the night and get up before my alarm.
One thing even better than yelling really loud at the gym is the community. We encourage and help each other. The people at TTCF are welcoming, humble, and warm – I've met many great people here. There are times I want to stay home but I'll show up anyway because the folks at TTCF are good people.

TwinTown Crossfit has completely changed my perspective on working out. I look forward to going and love that I leave every workout exhausted, soaked in sweat, beat-up and excited for the next one. I can't remember having this much fun exercising (and getting this many high-fives) since part of my daily schedule included recess. I mean, when is the last time you climbed a rope, swung on rings, jumped 2-feet high or raced someone to the end of the block? And while the hint of competition has kept me motivated to push myself on a daily basis, the incredible support and encouragement from my coaches and fellow athletes has inspired me to set and achieve goals that I didn't know were possible six short months ago.
Since joining TwinTown Crossfit, my results have far exceeded my expectations and I reached my personal goal of "10 pull-ups in four months," months earlier than expected. My body has changed and I feel stronger both mentally and physically. At this point, I truly could not imagine working out any other way and am so grateful that I found such an amazing group of people with which to share this experience.

CrossFit has been a pretty dramatic change from how I was previously staying fit. Or what I used to consider "fit". I've been lifting weights for years, but found I was really getting diminishing returns from the amount of time I was putting in. It was obvious I needed to change things up because bench press and arm curls were doing nothing to deflate the innertube that was forming around my waistline!
CrossFit workouts can certainly be grueling but the feeling of accomplishment when leaving the gym is more satisfying than any other workout I've ever had. It's a great feeling to be truly exhausted after my workouts and know that I'm working my muscles, but also improving my cardiovascular fitness and endurance.
The other aspect of CrossFit that is so appealing is the camaraderie of the group at TwinTown. Teddy has really assembled a great group of trainers that lead by example and encourage us to achieve our personal goals. Their positive energy and attitude is infectious! Getting to see and spend an hour with the great group of people at TwinTown is definitely a strong motivator to get myself to the gym!

When I joined Twintown CrossFit six months ago, my wife and I were looking for something that would keep our interest and supplement my martial arts training at the same time. I had been practicing Shaolin Kung Fu for about a year, but I still felt like I had a long way to go to get the strength and coordination that I desired. Little did I realize that I would see results so quickly! It only took about a month for me to see significant advances in my cardiovascular development, and I started noticing a lot of muscles that I didn't realize that I had!
Through CrossFit, I've found a new confidence and inner strength that I've never felt before. Working out can be very embarrassing and really enhance people's insecurities about themselves, and somehow the environment at TwinTown CrossFit leaves little room for all of that. Teddy has managed to create an unpretentious and nurturing community of people who just happen to develop into amazing athletes. This gym has made me realize, over and over since I started, that I am capable of anything. All I need to do is show up!

Leo at 39: tendonitis at the ankle and elbow, gut that wouldn't go away, could never resist a good cookie ( or even a bad one), couldn't do four pull ups, couldn't double under, always looking for different workouts because I get bored, don't push myself and plateau at an unimpressive level. Lifting weights kind of sucked because I only did random things that tend to work only one or two muscles at a time.
Fast forward to now: 40 years old, lighter, a little faster, best sprint triathlon time yet (even though I specifically did no tri training), haven't been bored at a single TTCF WOD, no injuries (but I've been sore plenty); leaner, 21 days into some kind diet that I once would have thought of as a weird; eating food that fuels my body and I don't feel like I'm missing anything; 14 consecutive pull ups, 63 double unders. I know how to do several Olympic weightlifting techniques (even if I can't do as much weight at others.)
Finally, I go to a gym where I have gotten to know people, we care about one another's progress, cheer each other on too. The head coach and all the other coaches actually watch what I'm doing and give good, useful advice that results in quick progress. You run a good place, Teddy. And you are a positive influence that I enjoy and appreciate.
Yeah, sign me up for more of that.

In my first week at TwinTown CrossFit, I experienced something that at first made me bashful: strangers were cheering me on. Why were they doing that? I scratched my head. Did my workout somehow matter to these strangers? Weird. I remember one gruesome workout – I was absolutely dying; I was seeing stars; I had gone to the Dark Side. An early CrossFit buddy John E., coached me through my last 40 reps… ONE REP at a time. He literally talked me through it. He stuck with me. That workout completely changed me. I started to cheer on other people. Their workouts started to matter deeply to me too. It seemed that all of our workouts matter to each other.
TwinTown CrossFit is the most functional community I've ever been a part of and I'm still excited to meet every new member, get to know existing members, learn what their strengths and weaknesses are, and figure out how I can support them as a peer. Everyday is something new and exciting. Meanwhile, I'm starting to shave off that dastardly 40 pounds. I learned how to do a box jump. I discovered that I'm strong. The other day I almost climbed a rope! Crazy. All because my friends at TwinTown CrossFit dared me, and would not accept any less.
